Ethical Decision-Making

IIMC Online Professional Development Program: Ethical Decision-Making in Local Government

Wednesday, March 4, 2026

Ethical decision-making can be challenging in the workplace today. That said, it is essential and mandatory that Municipal Clerks always make ethical decisions. This is true even when the circumstances are difficult or when the ethical decision has the potential to cause conflict or reveal things that could subject the clerk or their organization to negative consequences. In this session, we will explore what it means to make ethical decisions, the consequences of making unethical decisions in the municipal environment, how municipal supervisors and managers can create environments that support ethical decision-making, and how municipal clerks can develop solid foundations for ethical decision-making in the workplace. Points: 1 CMC or 1 MMC Advanced Education Point EPP First Cohort members are invited to participate to earn 2 hours toward EPP Education with a completed learning assessment.
