The ability to make effective and timely decisions is an essential skill for successful clerks. Mastery of this skill will improve your ability to serve your city, town or village in your day-to-day tasks and projects. You will hone your decision-making skills by following a methodology based on tested actions and sound organizational approaches. Topics include understanding and evaluating the decision to be made and the potential outcomes, following a consistent, logical process for decision making, and structuring your approach. Other topics include evaluating options against set criteria, avoiding typical decision-making traps, following-up on past decisions to review success and improve future decision making. This course will help you understand the structure of decision-making, define problems, evaluate options and make the best choice possible.
