The job of a Clerk has always been stressful, but 2020 has written an entirely new chapter in all of our lives. It can be overwhelming and definitely challenging to remain energized about work. There’s never been a better time for a survival guide! We can’t afford dedicated and talented public servants to surrender to the stress. This interactive workshop will walk you through ten checkpoints that can signal burnout. Video clips, true-life examples from the municipal world, audience participation, and actionable takeaways make this session powerful as well as personal to Clerks. Polls and Q&A will make this virtual event both interactive and engaging. Content is derived from the 2020 #1 New Release in Government Management on Amazon, The Public Servants’ Survival Guide. Each participant will download a grading sheet prior to the session, which will enable them to self-assess their success (or failure) at the ten checkpoints.

Toto's Reflections: The Leadership Lessons from the Wizard of Oz by Kevin Fickenscher Facilitated by Anne B. Uecker, MMC In the Wizard of Oz, Toto knew when to sit still, when to bark, and when to make a fuss. He was simply a real dog with real observations about real situations. And the Oz experience reinforced what his parents taught him as a small pup: Care deeply. Bark only when necessary but then, forcefully. Be curious. Express yourself. Embrace the world and have no fears. This Dialogue has been approved for three CMC or three MMC education points. An assessment must be completed by attendees seeking IIMC credit. Checks should be made payable to: Barren River Municipal Clerks Association (BRMCA) Mail registration form with payment to: Jerrod Barks, BRMCA Treasurer, PO Box 397, Morgantown, KY 42261

The Value of Transparency in Public Office WY State Auditor Kristi Racines CMC, MMC, APT Financial transparency and accessibility to the state’s financial data is a crucial part of the Auditor’s Office. Transparency in government should be the norm and not the exception. WyOpen was launched in the Auditor’s Office on July 17, 2019. This transparency website provides an online checkbook of Wyoming state expenditure data. It includes payments made by the state of Wyoming through the Wyoming Online Financial System (WOLFS) to vendors for the purchase of goods and services. Users can search, view and download expenditure data by state agency, vendor name, vendor location and expenditure category. Anyone should have access to our state’s expenditures. Putting Wyoming’s checkbook online is a critical step in ensuring Wyoming taxpayers understand how our public funds are spent. The Full Institute runs each Thursday from April 1-22.
