The 2013 Study Abroad Program is set for September 27 - October 4, 2013 in Scotland.

We thank the Municipal Clerks Education Foundation (MCEF) for their grant, making the 2013 program possible.

The purpose of the program is to provide a unique educational and cultural experience for IIMC members with an evaluation of practical and academic studies.  While the emphasis of this program is on education, the itinerary attempts to provide a good balance of touring the host country while interacting with the local government officials and attending educational sessions.

Your journey to learning abroad begins here by registering for your educational adventure. You’ll return home with new memories, new friends, and a deep appreciation for a piece of the world you may have never experienced otherwise.

 2013 Study Abroad Itinerary

This Study Abroad Program is closed for registration, with 33 registered participants.  Follow along in September on the IIMC Facebook page.

If you missed this opportunity, you won’t want to miss out on our next program in 2015 for a study program  in the United States with a focus on US History !

Education Points/Assessment
The IIMC Education Department has approved the 2013 Study Abroad Program for 11 CMC Education points or 11 MMC Advanced Education points.

2013 Study Abroad Education Program Descriptions

Participants who plan to use the points towards their CMC or MMC Application must complete an assessment.  Participants who have obtained the MMC designation are not required to complete the assessment.

Assessment
Write an essay of no less than 750 words detailing the educational aspects of the 2013 Study Abroad Program.  How did the experience relate to what you do in your country and municipality?  Compare and contrast your Clerk duties with the duties of the Scottish Clerk.  What new ideas did you learn or share while there?  Did you implement any of these new ideas into your office or municipality?

The essay must be a Word document in 12 pt. Times New Roman font.  Please make sure to include your name, title, email address, municipality and state.  The assessment deadline is November 18, 2013.  Please email it to Associate Director of Education, Jennifer Ward, .   All essays will be considered as possible articles for the News Digest.

IIMC understands that some participants have already obtained their MMC designation and do not need the points.  However, if you are interested in writing an essay or keeping a blog during the trip, IIMC would love to review it for consideration as an article in the News Digest or on our Facebook page.  Please send it to Communications Coordinator, Emily Maggard at .
