Dates of Institutes
The institute is a three year program, and each year is termed a “phase.” Each year or phase consists of 4 sessions: a fall session in October; a winter session in February, a spring session in April, and a summer session in July (August in election years). Each session is 1.5 days long. Three half-day courses are offered in each session except the summer session where one half-day course is taught and an annual exam is given. (Check the CGT website for specific dates and locations.)
Cost Breakdown of Institute
Certification Program (Institute): $65 registration fee for each of the four annual sessions (covers 3 courses, instructional materials, refreshments, and luncheon, but not lodging or other meals, per session). Certification Program (Institute) Update: $80 registration fee which covers instruction, course materials, refreshments, and luncheon, but not lodging or other m eals. Master Municipal Clerk Academy: $125 registration fee which covers instruction, course materials, and refreshments, but not meals or lodging
ADVANCED EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
A 1.5-day certification program (institute) update is conducted annually in December in Jackson and is open to both institute graduates and non-graduates. A two-day Master Municipal Clerk Academy is conducted annually in the spring or fall at Lake Tiak O’Khata Resort near Louisville, Mississippi for institute (certification program) graduates.
