Jane Long, M. S.
Jane Long, M. S. is originally from Toledo, Ohio where she graduated from The University of Toledo with a Bachelors of Business Administration. Having majored in Human Resource Management, Jane’s first two jobs after college were in the HR field with a focus on emerging computer technologies in the field. In 1992 she became the Operations/Systems Manager for an independent staffing firm . There she managed a VAX system and managed the day to day operations of one branch office. During her four-year tenure, she was promoted to Vice President of the organization having grown the operation from two offices to four in addition to opening two computer learning centers. This chapter of her life closed when her husband was transferred to Connellsville, Pennsylvania. Putting her business career behind her, Jane became an instructor for a business school. After two years at the business school, she began working with the distance learning program at Carlow College while teaching part-time for a local community college. In 2000 she graduated from Carlow College with a Masters of Science degree in Professional Leadership and was offered a full-time faculty position in the Business and Technology Management Division. She also served as the Director of Web-Based Learning and the Director of the Information Systems Management program. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, she taught both business and technology courses in the graduate and undergraduate programs. She developed and taught twelve online courses for the Business division during her tenure at Carlow College. When her husband was transferred to Los Angeles, California in 2001, Jane made the most of this change and landed at the University of La Verne where she served as the Assistant Director of Distance and Online Learning for two years. In addition, she worked as a part-time instructor of both graduate and undergraduate students. She continued her online teaching with Chaffey Community College in Southern California. Jane and her family now reside in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois where she is in her second year of doctoral work in the University of La Verne’s Doctorate of Education program. In addition, she continues to teach online for Chaffey College and does online course development and instruction for IIMC.
